Chigul born Chioma Omeruah is a Nigerian comedian, singer and actress who is known for her accents and comedic characters. Chioma Omeruah popularly known as Chigul is a famous Nigerian stand-up comedian, singer, comic actress and a television personality, who is known for her accents and comedic characters. An all round entertainer, she has been exceptional with her unique characters as she can easily switch up her accents. She can speak more than 5 languages; English, Spanish, French, Ibo and Yoruba.
Omeruah was born in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. She is the second of four childeren born to the family of Air Commodore Samson Omeruah. Chigul attended two Air Force secondary schools in Jos, Plateau and Ikeja, Lagos both in Nigeria. She briefly attended a University in Nigeria before she leaving to study the country to study Criminal Justice in America. Two years later, she switched disciplines to study French Education at Delaware State University, United States of America.
Omeruah returned to Nigeria after twelve years in America and began her career in the Entertainment industry with the alias C-Flow, but this has been subsumed by her skill in mimcry and comdey characters – principal of which is Chigul. Omeruah has twelve characters but her most popular invention is “Chigul”, a character which Omeruah speaks in a strong Igbo accent. Chigul was first heard as a recording of the song “Kilode” sent by Omeruah to her friends but the skit was soon re-sent around Nigeria.
Omeruah as been interviewed and lauded by a number of media outlets. She has given a TEDx talk (2014), appeared as a guest in singles like ‘Monkey’ by MI (2014) and ‘Karashika’ by Falz (2015), and she has starred in blockbuster movies like ‘The Wedding Party 2’ (2017), ‘Banana Island Ghost’ (2017), ‘Road to Yesterday’ (2015).
